When someone is contrasted with his shadow, his light is shown. He sees that the world is light and dark at the same time and that both belong together inseparably. Yin and yang, thesis and antithesis, life and death – the wholeness of a person and of a system lies in its contrasts. Seeing this means evolution, change, innovation. BUT is the world which brings this polarity to its lowest common denominator: everything has at least two sides:

BUT is the word we’ll be looking into at our pom+Highlight, with exciting presentations and input: Alex Fries, an early internet pioneer living in the United States, reports on how he perceives Switzerland from the viewpoint of Silicon Valley. Dr Daniel Thaler shows that the current challenges also require new ways of thinking in politics and law. Dr Joachim Baldegger and Roland Gubler present the latest real estate trends, pointing out contrasts. And Hannes Schmid tells us about his fascinating, adventure-filled life as a photographer, artist and founder of an aid organisation.
